On Sunday, 15th March 2009, during the live Sunday service, Prophet T.B. Joshua called upon the congregation and viewers worldwide to fast and pray. When the man of God was prophesying concerning the American Economic Crisis, saying that there is nothing anybody can do about it, that it is a way of correcting us, he further said that we should fast and pray for protection on the first Friday of next month – and that God is God of the universe. These were his words:

“In Jesus’ name. Let’s open our lips and pray. Fast on Friday, 1st week of next month. Open your lips, pray. In Jesus Christ’s name.  I told you about this economic crisis. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. There is nothing. It’s a way of correcting us. So, let us pray for the whole world – universe for God’s protection and God’s mercy. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray. 1st week of next month, on Friday, fast and pray. Ask God for protection. God is God of universe.”

This prophetic message was revealed on the 15th March 2009. On the first Friday of the following month, the 3rd of April 2009, in accordance with the prophecy, an immigration centre in New York, USA was taken over by an armed gunman.

Take note of the date Prophet T.B. Joshua admonished the congregation and viewers to pray and fast for protection. “Open our lips and pray. Fast on Friday, the first week of next month”.

On the exact day revealed in the prophetic message, at around 10:30am ET, a gunman stormed the American Civic Association, taking 20-40 people hostage and killing up to 12 people inside. When the shooting started, people fled to the basement in search of safety. More than a dozen people were hiding in a closet for more than an hour. Some people were later escorted out of the building. Police closed down nearby streets and locked down a high school and nursing home and advised local business owners to stay inside.

Yes, just as Prophet T.B. Joshua said, God is God of the universe. In direct confirmation of this message, the American Civic Association where the shootings took place, is an immigration centre dedicated to helping immigrants and refugees from different nations around the world. Those that visit the association are those who require assistance with interpretation and translation, resettlement and citizenship. The shootings, which have devastated the state of New York and in fact, the entire nation, have dominated news headlines around the world, throughout that first Friday of the month, 3rd April 2009.

New York Gov. David Paterson issued a statement saying it was "a tragic day for New York." He said he had directed state police to assist the Binghamton Police Department. "I speak for all of New York when I offer my prayers for the victims and families of this tragedy," Paterson said.

“Open our lips and pray. Ask God for protection.”
