“Prayer for the nation over earthquake and another natural disaster which is water. There will be an earthquake. There are two countries. Apart from Haiti, it will be twice. There will be another one. This will be by the sea. The country very close to the sea that will claim many lives.”

It was a moment where all ears gave their attention. It was another special insight into revealed truth at The SCOAN on Sunday 17th January 2010 when during a live Sunday service, Prophet TB Joshua gave a prophecy regarding natural disasters that would occur in a country very close to the sea. The prophecy he gave was as follows:
“Prayer for the nation over earthquake and another natural disaster which is water. There will be an earthquake. There are two countries. Apart from Haiti, it will be twice. There will be another one. This will be by the sea. The country very close to the sea that will claim many lives. I’m seeing sea coming up. The water will overflow and will come to the country. And I’m seeing children and many trapped. Bridge, sea will flow to the city that will cause a big destruction. It will be when people are moving on the bridge – the vehicles on the queue or in the traffic. Something like that. Prayer for protection.”
True to the prophet’s words, about a month after the Haiti earthquake, another earthquake struck in a country with the exact description of location given by the prophet - a ‘country very close to the sea’. On Saturday 27th February 2010, a massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country of Chile at 3.34am local time. The deadly earthquake was followed by ‘another natural disaster’ – a Tsunami which wreaked devastation in the coastal nation of Chile. The earthquake triggered tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific Basin.
The country of Chile accounts for more than half of the western coastline of South America occupying a long, narrow coastal strip between the Andes mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west –very close to the sea just as Prophet TB Joshua had said.
The devastating earthquake claimed hundreds of lives with some two million people being affected including those whose homes were destroyed or damaged and those who lost loved ones. Housing Minister Patricia Poblete said that 1.5 million homes were damaged by the powerful earthquake.
The earthquake that struck Chile was one of the biggest earthquakes ever recorded in history, and indeed another natural disaster followed just as Prophet TB Joshua had said – a disaster involving water. A tsunami arrived within minutes at the coast, wiping out some coastal villages and leaving destruction in its path.
The sun had barely risen over the Chilean fishing town of Dichato on Saturday morning when the three giant waves roared in from the Pacific. The first two surges startled the town’s 7,000 residents, who had already been violently awakened by the earthquake that wrought destruction across central Chile. But it was the third surge, a huge wall of water that tore up and smashed houses, swept cars out to sea and sucked people’s possessions into the sea, destroying more than three-quarters of the town’s buildings.
A tsunami swept into the Chilean port town of Talcahuano late on Saturday, causing serious damage to port facilities and lifting fishing boats out of the water, local television reported. Pictures showed shipping containers strewn around and flooded streets. The wave that hit the village of Talcahuano rose more than 7.5 feet. Nearly 80 percent of Talcahuano’s residents were left homeless, with 10,000 homes uninhabitable and hundreds more destroyed, said Mayor Gaston Saavedra.
The government said that hundreds of thousands had lost their homes and were beginning a reconstruction effort that could last about four years.
“And I’m seeing children and many trapped.”
Days after the quake, there was no electricity, phone service or running water, and bodies remained trapped in collapsed buildings.
The search for survivors continued as many were still trapped under rubble.
100 people remained trapped inside a toppled 14-storey building in Concepción, Chile's second largest city, 40 miles northwest of the epicentre. An estimated 20 bodies were removed from the building and teams of firefighters crawled through the wreckage searching for signs of life. Rescuers said that they heard voices of people trapped inside, but that progress was painfully slow.
“There will be an earthquake. It will be when people are moving on the bridge – the vehicles on the queue or in the traffic.”
Various bridges collapsed and roads split apart as a result of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake. A major bridge of the Vespucio Norte Highway, one of the major highways connecting Santiago - the capital of Chile, crumbled after the earthquake. This created major transportation problems in an already very congested city. Many of the vehicles were travelling on the highway at the time the quake struck and dozens of cars still lie on the highway, many completely destroyed.
The 90 second tremor also severed one of Chile’s main thoroughfares, the Pan American Highway, at several points south of Santiago. The total economic damage of the quake is reported to be as much as 30 billion Dollars or about 15 percent of the South American countries GDP.
President Michelle Bachelet, speaking at a news conference called the quake, “One of the worst tragedies in the last 50 years”. She described it as "an emergency unparalleled" in the country's history. "We face a catastrophe of such unthinkable magnitude that it will require a giant effort" for Chile to recover”, she said.
Emmanuel TV and The SCOAN pray for the nation of Chile as Apostle Paul prayed in 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 “…May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort their hearts and establish them in every good word and work” as they rebuild their nation.
