“Those who lodge in a hotel, I’m seeing an Asian country. The name of the country is given to me but I’m praying for them. I’m seeing a place where people lodge being burnt. They should pray. I will put my prayer warriors to pray for the country where I-N--- I will not say more than that. I’m seeing a strike. People being in a hotel people lodge – thousand, thousand and thousands. From Tuesday, pray, we fast for the whole world. This is an Asian country.”

God continues to reveal His messages to his servants the prophets giving them messages for both national and international communities. Speaking through his servant, Prophet T.B. Joshua, during a live service at The SCOAN on Sunday 14th February 2010, God revealed a message of international significance regarding the continent of Asia. In sharing the prophecy God had given him, Prophet TB Joshua told the congregation and Emmanuel TV viewers to pray for an Asian country saying that the spelling of the country’s name begins with the letters, I-N. He said:
“Those who lodge in a hotel, I’m seeing an Asian country. The name of the country is given to me but I’m praying for them. I’m seeing a place where people lodge being burnt. They should pray. I will put my prayer warriors to pray for the country where I-N--- I will not say more than that. I’m seeing a strike. People being in a hotel people lodge – thousand, thousand and thousands. From Tuesday, pray, we fast for the whole world. This is an Asian country.”
A month later, on Sunday 21st March 2010, Prophet T.B. Joshua referred to the prophecy again, saying that the congregation and viewers should pray for this nation. This time, he specifically mentioned the nation India – the initial letters of which are: I-N. He said that he saw a hotel burnt down, where thousands of people were inside and that this would happen on a Tuesday. He also stated that he would remind them when it would be close. And some weeks later, on 21st March 2010, he did remind them. Here is what he said:
“I said we should pray for India country. We pray for this country. Any time you pray, remember this country – India. Make sure you fast on Tuesday. Put it in prayer and fast on Tuesday.”
In confirmation of the prophecy, just two days after this reminder was given, on Tuesday 23rd March 2010, news broke that in the early afternoon of Tuesday, a devastating fire broke out at a land-mark building – Stephen’s Court - in Park Street, located in the city of Kolkata, India, trapping scores of people in the building.
The man of God said that any time they prayed they should remember this country – India and indeed, the Asian country where the fire outbreak happened was in the heart of the city of Kolkata in the country of India – the precise country mentioned by Prophet T.B. Joshua in the prophecy.
The place the man of God had seen being burnt in the vision God had given him was Stephen’s court. Stephen’s court is a residential landmark edifice on the city’s showpiece Park Street built in Kolkata, India. It is among the most important buildings in Kolkata with roughly 68 flats spread over six floors. These flats are occupied by over 200 companies and families. Stephen’s court has more than a hundred offices including the giant Music World and the popular Peter Cat, which draws large crowds of tourists daily. It is in fact a place where people lodge – as the man of God said – thousand, thousand and thousands.
“I’m seeing a place where people lodge being burnt. They should pray. I will put my prayer warriors to pray for the country where I-N---
People being in a hotel people lodge – thousand, thousand and thousands.”
Stephens court which housed the iconic 100-year-old Flurry’s confectionery house and several offices went up in flames. Scores of people including some old women were feared to be trapped in the 150 year old building. An electrical fault was suspected to have caused the fire though the actual cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. The blaze which started in an elevator shaft at the building’s fifth floor, gradually moved to the sixth floor.
With thick smoke engulfing the building, People tried escaping using pipe lines from the eight-storied building. Many scrambled out from windows, others jumped, while several clung to the edges of the building waiting for rescue. “We saw thick smoke coming out of the building and so we hurriedly packed our belongings and left the spot”, said Gangadhar Pandey.
Smoke and dense fire bellowed from the second and third floors of the six-storied colonial-era structure in city centre Park Street commercial district, as firefighters struggled to mount a rescue operation. In the inferno, 300 firemen and 40 fire tenders and snorkels fought the blaze which began at about 2:30 pm on Tuesday.
Prophet T.B. Joshua not only accurately predicted the event and the country it would take place in, but also the precise day of the week - Tuesday. “Make sure you fast on Tuesday. Put it in prayer and fast on Tuesday.”
A kitchen worker of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), adjacent to Stephen’s Court, Sambhu, told IANS: “We heard a loud sound at around 1.40 p.m. on Tuesday when we were having lunch… then we heard people screaming inside the building. We came to the terrace and saw a raging fire inside the building. We have seen people jump from the fifth floor and die before our eyes.”
Many people came out of the windows and narrow openings meant for air-conditioning on to the parapets and started shouting for help. “I saw two desperate people, unable to bear the soaring heat and fumes, cling on to the edge of the balcony and then jump to their death from the sixth floor,” said Rupa Ghosh, eyewitness to the fire tragedy in Kolkata's Park Street Tuesday.
Landing at the site nearly one-and-a-half hours after the fire broke out, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Pratim Chatterjee said that the fire services could not reach the spot on time because of the excessive traffic. "It takes one hour to cover a 15 km journey that is why the delay took place in the fire tenders reaching there", he said. The entire Park Street area was closed to traffic.
The incident is described as being Kolkata's worst fire tragedy. Everything inside the damaged portion was burnt - be it the wooden furniture, electronic gadgets, refrigerators or split air conditioners, - the black ash floated out in the air as evidence. The west Bengal state fire services minister Pratim Chattopadhyay said, “We have doused so many fires in Calcutta in recent years but we have faced nothing like this”.
More than two days later the authorities were Thursday yet to trace the owner of the building where an inferno left 24 dead and 10 missing. The massive fire was eventually brought under control after four hours.
Considering the magnitude of the fire in the busy tourist area of Kolkata, India, hundreds, even thousands might have lost their lives if not for the call to pray given by Prophet T.B. Joshua.
We thank God for the call to pray. We pray for country India and for the families of all those who lost their loved ones in this incident that God would comfort them and that the peace of God which transcends all understanding would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus and enrich their souls for eternity.
